The vision of Pieter Snyman was a Tyre Retreading Company with it's own identity and an infrastructure that reaches over the whole of South Africa with products from the smallest passenger tyre to the largest earthmover tyre.

Through his own personal involvement as entrepreneur, developer, marketer& salesperson, the Oliver Tyre Group's energetic Executive Director took this company to where it is today. Oliver Tyre Group is now recognized as one of the largest retreading companies in South Africa.

The Oliver Tyre group is founded in Somerset East in 1965 as a small business. A product was designed for client needs by intensive market research. The original marketing was aimed at the local market, which was mainly for Passenger and Truck tyres. Pieter Snyman not only established himself in this market in a short period of time, but also identified the opportunities to drastically increase the market share. This could only be done by complying to certain quality standards and increasing the product series.

This objective was reached early in the 1980's, when the factory received the SABS stamp of approval and the earthmover factory became operational. The quality part was also enhanced by the successful completion of the GEROTEK vehicle test on 14 November 1991.

Today, the Oliver Tyre Group has a personnel of approximately 200 people and an infrastructure of 2 factories (in Somerset East and Port Elizabeth) and 7 distribution points. The company is an authorized dealer for the following market segmentations like mining, logging, agricultural activities, and render services through state contractors for institutions like Mossgas, local authorities and certain miners.

The company's outstanding quality products and effective client service was acknowledged on 2 June 1994 with the receiving of the award for Special Services Delivered in Developing Logistics. The wide-spread client basis is an indication of our client satisfaction, product quality and competitive prices. Pieter Snyman formed a multi-million rand company by keeping quality and client services high on his priority list.
